Leora Joseph is the current Director for the Office of Civil and Forensic Mental Health for the State of Colorado overseeing the state mental health system where it connects with the legal systems, particularly the criminal justice system. Prior to that, she served as the General Counsel for the Auraria Campus. She is the former Managing Chief Deputy District Attorney for the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office. Prior to that she served as Chief of the Child Protection Unit in the Boston (Suffolk County) District Attorney's Office.
Ms. Joseph has lectured frequently on the topics of forensic mental health, sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse and human trafficking at institutions such as Harvard University Law School, University of Colorado Denver, Boston University, Brooklyn Law School and organizations like the National District Attorney Association, the Colorado District Attorney's Council.
She has been awarded the Ralph Martin Prosecutor of the Year Award (2008) and Colorado Woman Lawyer of the Year (2016). She lives in Denver with her husband and three children.
